This nature center is designed to educate about the role of wildlife in Arkansas and the role of government offices, like Arkansas Game and Fish, in the preservation of Arkansas wildlife. The center is focused on the importance of waterways in Arkansas, and every exhibit centers around water and water’s impact on the wildlife in the area. The center itself is on the Arkansas River.

Fun exhibits:
A favorite exhibit is a large aquarium with fish native to the Arkansas River. The aquarium overlooks a scenic area on the river where you can sometimes see native birds and waterfowl. The center has a theater with a 10-minute educational film about wildlife management in Arkansas.The center has many exhibits on safe hunting and fishing in Arkansas. You can pick up booklets of hunting and fishing guidelines, conservation and visitor’s info in the center too.
They also have a neat, interactive map of Arkansas that shows conservation areas and habitat areas.
Outside:
On nice days, the location by the river makes a great place to watch for songbirds, waterfowl, reptiles and other wildlife. A portion of the Arkansas River Trail crosses the center, so you could even leave the center and go on a hike.
